STEMonsters is a learning ecosystem for school children, aiming to build, in them, a strong foundation in STEM concepts through interdisciplinary, application-focused programs. According to the founder, Dr. Sonali Dasgupta, the programs help develop a problem-solving mindset while instilling confidence in children to explore the unknown and keeping them engaged and curious.
Dr. Sonali Dasgupta adds, “We offer weekly, after-school science and technology learning programs for children (pan-Asia), in the age group of eight to 14 years, wherein they learn by experimenting and building on their own, right from their homes. We help build a child’s scientific temperament and intrigue, and ensure that we keep that curiosity alive.”
Sonali goes on to say that the programs are live and instructor-led while being curiosity-driven to encourage higher order thinking skills. “Our goal is to bridge the gap between textbook knowledge and practical application-oriented skills for success of a child in the evolving career landscape.”
Dr. Sonali Dasgupta, the Founder of STEMonsters, is a career research scientist with a PhD in Physics from IIT Delhi. She has worked in top research labs across both the academic and corporate sectors. She says that she founded STEMonsters with the vision to create a fun and foundational STEM learning space for children, where they could explore science and technology concepts by tinkering, experimenting and discovering. “With STEMonsters, my mission is to create a learning environment that transforms a curious child today into a confident innovator tomorrow.”
Sonali says that NSRCEL’s WSP 4.0 has been instrumental in shaping the path for an early-stage venture like hers, in more ways than one. “My biggest learning from NSRCEL has been developing a positive mindset and structured approach in building a venture. The programme required us to define our quarterly Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) and gave us guidance on how to optimize the OKRs for best returns. The networking opportunity offered amongst peers and experts helped immensely. The entire community and the mentors have been extremely supportive even outside the programme’s immediate requirements, be it for technical queries, social media support, and more. The group mentoring sessions proved to be extremely beneficial as well.”
