Established in 2014 in Hyderabad, Ridgeland Industries Pvt. Ltd. offers snacks made of millets under the brand name RIGDAM, which means wealth. According to the Founders Dibyajyoti Borgohain and Madhavi Pomar, RIGDAM provides ready-to-eat, affordable, tasty and healthy snacks for the entire family, for guilt-free snacking anywhere, anytime.
“It is one of the first few enterprises which started making snacks from millets. The company aspires to make the world a better place by providing healthier and affordable snack options to people using traditionally grown super crops like millets which are good for us, good for farmers and good for the earth. We see ourselves empowering women and farmers by working directly with them, while going ahead in the evolving health movement”, says Dibyajyoti.
Dibyajyoti Borgohain is a Computer Science graduate who is passionate about healthy food and social causes. Earlier, she worked as a facilitator in various national and international schools in Hyderabad, Telangana.
Madhavi Pomar graduated in Anthropology and has worked in areas such as Nutrition and Clinical Research, in institutes like National Institute of Nutrition and Apollo Hospitals in Hyderabad.
Madhavi shares that the NSRCEL programme has helped them understand the financial aspects of the business. “It has also helped us get guidance from industry experts, network, collaborate with peer entrepreneurs, rework on the business model and develop the business.”
